eEarth mobile installation procedure
Please note: a prerequisite for the application is having access to the Internet on your PDA (via GPRS, UMTS or EDGE). A GPS receiver connected to your PDA is not required, but can be very helpful in finding relevant borehole data.
In order to install the eEarth-Mobile application at your PDA, please complete the following steps:
Step 1: Download the cabinet-file eEarth_PPC.ARM.CAB to the hard disk of your PC
Step 2: Put your PDA in the cradle and use ActiveSync to copy that file from your PC to a directory on the device (e.g. My Device\Temp)
Step 3: On the PDA, use the File Explorer to go to the directory where you copied this file and tap on it
Step 4: The cabinet-file will install the software on your PDA (and will remove itself afterwards)
Step 5: Start the eEarth mobile application
Step 6: On startup the application accesses the 'root url', which will guide the application to the sites of participating geological surveys. If this root url is missed or incorrect, you will be asked to specify the correct one.
